New European Union caps on mobile phone roaming charges have come into force which have reduced the cost of data roaming by over a third and further reduce the cost of making calls and sending messages when visiting another EU country.
Liberal Democrats in the European Parliament are leading the fight to end roaming charges in Europe once and for all.
East Midlands MEP Bill Newton Dunn said “Consumers should not have to pay over the odds when in other EU countries. This legislation is be a big step forward towards ending the rip- off.
“Data roaming charges are particularly extortionate, yet it’s clear that ordinary people, as well as businesses, are using smartphones more and more, wherever they are. So this first EU price cap for mobile data services is vital, and will benefit everyone.”
